So this week we had to make a website using a free template and we could download any we would like. I don't really like making websites i have discovered but i know i will be doing plenty more of it in the future since its unavoidable. So that being said i will be practicing more so i can learn it by heart so i can do it as simply as i can do photoshop...because of course practice makes perfect. OK anyways we had to change the stuff from the original and add our stuff to it. I was going to add an image of one of my works in the background but i didnt like how the colors worked with the rest of it. So i just created my own lil background in photoshop that would have a some of the colors in it. I also didnt know what size to make the background to where it wouldn't repeat but now i know its larger than 1000px. Anyhow now i know and have learned something new and have the program at home to practice on. :)

Brushes Smushes.....
Our assignment was to create one brush in photoshop and two brushes in illustrator. The space needle i did in photoshop and my brush was the clouds. I had taken a picture of the clouds a different time and decided heyy i have use for them now. So i created my own lil cloud brush with photoshop. In illustrator my scatter brushes were all the lil flowers. I made three different kinds but then realized hmmm what picture am i goin to make with them?? So i decided to make an art brush look like grass as my second brush. This is the outcome of my brushes i made and maybe sometime in the future they will come in handy for me.
Gallerrrrriiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

This is my online Photo Galleria!! This assignment was pretty basic after i figured out how to load all my stuff into Dreamweaver. Changing the code was fun for me because if haven't got to play with code since highschool. I only like small amounts of code though otherwise i get a lil overwhelmed. I think i did everything right on this assignment and im not sure how to grade myself being that its all pictures of mine that i like.

Vinyl Sticker
This assignment was super fun to do. Even though it was done in illustrator i really enjoyed myself. This design i created off an idea that my mom wants for a tattoo. The text in this sticker "Ohana" means family in hawaiin so we thought it was necessary to put it on one of the Family golf carts. :D My aunt and uncles are rocking this sticker on theirs now. Anyhow learning how to create these was very useful and I have a few more ill be cutting out soon including a Transformer head, a Famous Logo, and a logo for my friends' Jeep Club. It was quite the process converting all these to outlines then after cutting layering all the individual colors but i am very pleased on how it turned out in the end. :) I will post the other stickers i make as soon as i get them cut and assembled.

Pop up in After Effects
Ok this was not very fun to me. But it was good thing to learn and I most likely will be making a second one to try and master it.. As you can tell i had issues with the shadows but I just wanted to get it rendered out so I had at least something. I know if I keep playing with it at home eventually I will master it with a bit more patience. I don't really like how this one turned out but I now know what i can work on to improve my skills.
Lower Case and Symbols
Ok this is the follow up where we had to create the matching lowercase, numbers and symbols of our original font. This was a simple project since it was the same thing as making the uppercase just finishing the alphabet. I feel like it turned out well although the numbers were quite difficult to come up with.
Creating My Own Custom Font
For this assignment we had to create our own font in Adobe Illustrator. It was quite the long process in doing so but overall I learned a lot from it. We had to find a brush we liked and draw each letter individually and convert them into and object we could paste into the Font Creator program. Once the process was down it was just the long task of doing it for each letter in the alphabet. We were only instructed to create the uppercase as of now but will soon be doing the lower case as well. At first I honestly didn't like this assignment at all considering I don't favor adobe illustrator; but as time went by I didn't really mind doing the assignment. Overall i think it turned out welll and I pretty happy with the work I did.

Polar Cub
Ok so I am most definitly new at using the drawing tablet. I really liked it but clearly im not very good at it yet. I decided on a polar bear cub because event tho it's not the best art it is something I love. Using the drawing tablet though was a great experience, and I have decided to go out and buy my own to practice with and one day master. Overall i think i did OK since you can identify what i drew but still not no where near as good as I would have liked it to be.
Faerie meadow
This assignment was a very new thing for me to learn. I really enjoyed learning this new technique and will probably practice with it some more to master it. I did have some issues with rendering in Quicktime for some reason but the SWF file runs a lot smoother but this will do for now. Overall im satisfied with how it turned out. I kept the fantasy feel of the picture by adding in the faerie brushes. It was interesting making the brushes appear in flash using a mask to make it appear.

About Me
My name is Kayla and I am a Digital Design Student at Pierce College. I really enjoy editing photos in photoshop and have been thinking about making a side career in photography. After I am done obtaining my Digital Design Degree I would like to go to school for Massage Therapy ( I know completley different career direction). Until then I will keep learning different skills and who knows, maybe I'll find another career I'm interested in within the Digital Design world. This blog will have all the new things I learn using different programs and I am super excited to see what comes of it. :)
